AET Renewables Division attended the Oxted and Edenbridge County Show over the Bank Holiday Weekend to showcase their Camel Solar Thermal Collectors to local individuals and businesses. The show is traditionally agricultural with livestock, horticulture and horse events held over the two days as well as antiques, crafts, food and shopping marquees.

With offices in East Grinstead not far from the show ground, AET chose this event to demonstrate how solar thermal technology can work for the domestic market as well as the commercial market. The area has many local industries that could incorporate solar technology, such as farms, dairies and breweries which have specific and high volume hot water requirements, and could therefore reap the biggest benefits. Residences with swimming pools and hot tubs can also experience higher savings and often extended use of their facilities.

Even without incentives, this technology can offer huge benefits to consumers in the form of reduced carbon emissions and around 40% - 60% savings on hot water and heating bills, depending on existing systems and fuel consumption. Payback periods on capital investment are typically around five to seven years. Camel Solar’s range of collectors is produced using the latest manufacturing technologies to achieve optimal performance and an attractive appearance at a competitive price.

Edward Blake Thomas, Bsc (Hons) heading up Camel Solar at AET quoted, “we were delighted with the interest generated at the event. Showcasing the collectors on a mock up roof allowed everyone to see how a typical system could work with their central heating or hot water, and how neatly the collectors can be installed. It is time that people became aware that Solar can offer a substantial if not complete solution to hot water heating and is a viable alternative to gas or electric. Visitors commented on the attractive appearance and were surprised by the amount of heat generated even on a cloudy day.”
